When you move out
There are lot of things to remember when you are moving. Here is our checklist for you about the most important things to remember.
Termination of tenancy
The tenants’ notice period is always one calendar month. This means that if you give the notice now, the first possible time for your tenancy to end is at the last day of the next month. Remember to terminate the tenancy on time!

Apartment inspections
Your apartment will be inspected during the last month of your tenancy. We will check the apartment for any maintenance or repairing needs, as well as the cleanliness of the apartment. Check the report carefully and act on the things mentioned before you move out.

Final cleaning
Do a proper final cleaning before returning your keys. Final cleaning is a thorough task so reserve enough time for it. In shared apartments, your roommates should participate on the final cleaning of shared spaces.

if you have made visible changes in your apartment, such as putting up a shelf or a flat screen tv, take them out and repair the visible marks left.
Plugging the inlet and outlet pipes
If you have a washing machine in your apartment, the inspector will leave a standard size plugs to your apartment to plug the pipes. However, this standard size may not fit all pipes. You must then buy proper sized plugs yourself.
Plug the inlet and outlet pipes as soon as you detach the machine.
Notification of change of address
Notify the authorities of change of address. In Posti online service you can submit a notification of change of address to both Posti and the Digital and Population Data Services Agency. Check also their list of authorities that will get your new address automatically. Make sure to inform all other necessary places yourself.

Empty your apartment
Apartment must be empty when you move out. Don’t leave furniture or any other items in the apartment. Connection boxes are a fixed part of the apartment, so leave them in. If you want to give or sell belongings to the next tenant and they are willing to accept the belongings, always inform our customer service by message in MyHoas or email.
Moving day
The official moving day is the last day of the tenancy. Check the date on the confirmation of your termination notice. The apartment must be empty and the final cleaning done by the end of the moving day.
Return the keys
Return the keys by 9 am the day after your tenancy has ended to our Service Center. You can also give them directly to the new tenant by making a handing-over-the-keys agreement.

Moving to another Hoas apartment
If you are moving from one Hoas apartment to another, you can return the keys by 4 pm. Keep in mind that the new tenant may start moving in at 9 am, so make sure to have at least half of your apartment empty for the new tenants’ furniture.
Deposit return
If you paid a deposit before your tenancy, we aim to return it within a month from the end of your tenancy. The deposit payment is returned to the bank account you have informed. Deposits paid by social services or Kela will be returned to the payer automatically.
