Modern student homes in Tikkurila
The eight-storey building will include a total of 149 studios and 13 family apartments.
The finished apartments will be cozy and modern: light-coloured vinyl plank flooring, white walls and kitchen cabinets, wood-coloured countertops, and light grey bathroom tiles. Each apartment will have a private French balcony.
The building will include diverse common areas, which will consist of several different kinds of spaces that form a coherent entity. There will be two saunas available for the tenants to book free of charge. The sauna lounge room is connected to a small auditorium, which can be used for lounging, studying, or even watching movies while sitting on the bleachers. There is also a larger common space next to the auditorium, which will house the free-of-charge washers and driers in addition to a small kitchen with tables and chairs.
The building will also have good waste sorting and recycling facilities as well as bicycle storage with numbered stands.
The Vehkapolku student building will be a part of a new kind of city block concept, which will include several new residential buildings and the new Tikkurila church. The city block called the Block of Encounters will aim to develop a sense of communality among the residents in the form of different kinds of events, common communication channels and associations.
